Role of Graffiti

As a social expression way, Graffiti is a movement or cultural manifestation reflecting the needs of exposing the vulnerability phenomena happening in the world. National identity affects directly the visual results of this kind of expression. At countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia or Honduras, Graffiti is a common phenomenon in which disagreement ideologies related to national events is the common denominator.

In the case of Argentina, Graffiti is one of the common artistic alternatives that are not regulated. Society use this as a way to express feelings, emotions, thoughts relates with the art and in the same time is a social revolutionary movement that create an identity and try to expose the problems that affect to excluded populations.

Graffiti in Honduras reflect the violence in the society. Taking into account the article, Tegucigalpa is one of the world's deadliest cities, "every 87 minutes someone dies in Honduras from a firearm, and there are over 650,000 illegal weapons” Maeztro tells Al Jazeera. People try to highlight the problem through paint.

Graffiti in Colombia is used in the most cases for show disagree and uncomfortable against to government system. The graffiteros in Colombia are always being making criticism politics rules, politics decisions that the presidents and his personnel take. In Bogotá for example which is a big city with more than 8 million of habitant, there are many of them that are not allowed to participate in some activities. The reason is because these activities are reserved to high class. In these cases, the graffiti is used by minorities like non verbal expressions to communicate exclusion. 

According To Vitché (2012) the graffiti in Brazil are influenced by the political climate and corruption. But allyears many people from different places of the country and America go to see thin kind of cultural expression.

We can see that the predominant fact in which is based  (talk about compare with Northern Africa…) that people protest around the world by different form, in Africa bloggers are very populat between the society and are a form to diagree with the state, this situation is similarly to America in which people disagree with the government expresing their imagination through the walls. 

Bangkok's Mexicans Gangster

 Thai gangsters are a group of people that feel very close representing by “Mexican gangsters”. They are an excellent example of cultural appropriation because they want to look like people from another subculture from another country. We can learn that stereotypes about people are very wrong in some cases. For example the stereotype of Thai gangsters suggest that they are  murderers, bad guys, drugs addict , that is people who are involved in dark business. But really the real condition is that they are people who served to society such as policeman, technician, teachers of oriental medicine and even being a government like Yu Yammatu. In spite of Thai clothes, tattoos, and hairstyles emulate those sported by real homies, they have another beliefs and conception. They think that Mexican style reflects their life’s so well because it is very clean and easy, just a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. “The clan and simple stile” is what catch the attention of those men.

One more important thing to learn about Thai and Mexican subcultures is the feeling of friendship that predominates in the group. Everyone loves one another and all they are agree to listen hip-hop music in order to express what they are feeling.  

Against the discrimination

In Colombia approximately the 30,6 percent of the population live on the Poverty according to information provided by DANE in 2013. Is important to know that poverty are measured according to incomes levels. One important amount of this percentage of population are compound by Afro-Colombian. Through history, black communities have been one of the most affected population. In this opportunity I want to refer to Afro-Colombian miner’s population. Afro-Colombian miners, especially who are located in the department of Cauca they have been separated and discriminated. They have worked on this activity for over 400 years and for them it is a cultural activity (ancestral activity). Besides, they look miners like a business and legacy that allow them to survive. Parents have the obligation to teach their children and the chain keeps in going. This Afro-Colombian community have fought with multinationals and not just right now. This has been a historic fight. They say that people from other places want to establish and take over territories there is mining. As a result to defending their heritage and maintain their territory, Afro-Colombian community located on the Village of Mindala in the Cauca department have been isolated from any employment and transportation. The government promise to relocate people, but that was an illusion. In spite of that, they continue fighting against to multinationals and finally the government reviewed constitutional rights action and recognized that this is ancestral territory that people have been mining from the abolition of slavery up today. The communities presence in the territory has been guaranteed by the resistance of its members, starting with their ancestors, who were brought as slaves

INTRODUCTION POST

Hi, I'm Sebastian Acosta, an student of the Industrial Engineering at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla. I will be in 9th semester the next year. One of my purposes is go to Germany like 3 years ago because I want to return to study. I'm musician when I'm not engineering and definitely it is what captivates me. The Music has allowed me to visit another countries like Germany, Poland and Dominican Republic, and in Colombia many cities and towns.
